With an affinity for the arts, languages and influences of the world, Ashley Schenkein (shen-kin) began making jewelry in 2007 in Jackson Hole, when her intuition for jewelry design landed her at the Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts in San Francisco. From there, Schenkein landed various design apprenticeships in Ecuador and Buenos Aires and – inspired by her ongoing global travels to South America, Europe, Portugal and Africa (both on the docket for 2012) – Schenkein now crafts with the kind of originality that embodies simplicity and femininity, while integrating cultural influences from across the globe into a vision of elegant East-meets-West glamour.
Expressing a distinct brilliance, ‘signature’ Schenkein pieces incorporate the use of asymmetry – tiny floating metal rings that sit atop semi-precious and precious faceted stones with contrasting mixed metals – and organic shapes in a variety of compositions designed to complement the unique and natural beauty in every woman.
Each piece is handmade with a fresh and modern interpretation, the inception of which comes from Schenkein’s spontaneous gravitation to a stone, metal or shape, allowing the process to organically evolve into an original new design. The overall vision of her collection emerges as an eclectic blend of simplicity, elegance and passion, all combined to take the everyday woman from simple to stunning with the addition of a piece – or layered pieces – to her look.
Schenkein’s collection offers women of all ages a timeless edge, effortlessly linking everyday chic with special occasion sparkle. Her pieces are classic, fun and easy to wear, featuring day-to-night necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and rings, as well as one-of-a-kind engagement rings and wedding bands. With a sense of style that embodies individuality, confidence and beauty, Ashley Schenkein Jewelry Design is quickly becoming a favorite among style-setters from coast to coast.
